Helen Keller -



I had asked my students to use technology and www.brainpop.com to look up anything from the Social Studies section and write about it. One student chose to watch a Helen Keller video. After discussing the notes he took, some students became very interested in her life. They found how truly inspiring and intelligent she really was.
Helen Keller was born in a small town called Tuscumbia in June 27, 1880. It was in Alabama. She lived on an Estate, called Ivy Green.
When Helen was two months old, she became very ill and lost her ability to hear and see. This was the beginning of a very difficult and very unique lifestyle of the famous and powerful woman, named Helen Keller. Years later,Helen attended the Wright-Humason school for the deaf.She was the only student who was deaf and blind. She didn't her ability to not see or hear delay her learning process.
Helen eventually became a writer. She gave speeches. The topics varied from her love of animals and nature to the importance of equal opportunities for women.In 1924, Helen joined the American Foundation for the Blind (AFB) From 1946-1968 Helen visited 39 countries. Children all over the world adored her as well as government officials and important people in government.Helen began visiting disabled, deaf, and blind children in post-war Rome, Italy, 1946.

Hi. How are you? I noticed your following my blog on my page. Very cool! I chose a few random people off the list to follow too.
I find your latest blog very interesting. I have always been fascinated by the life of Helen Keller and everything she accomplished. She's an excellent model for people from all walks of life. She's a fantastic example for young children too.I love her quote, "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched- they must be felt within the heart." She's so right.Cool blog.
