Move to Long Island, Join the "Rat Race" :-)
Metaphorically speaking, living on long island is one big rat race. Do you ever feel like the man in this picture ? I do. Endless lists of things to do. Barely enough time to hobbies or spending quality time with family and friends. It's almost like you need to take personal days to catch up with yourself. We're all on this wheel that never stops spinning. If we stop, the wheel propels us off track. Then we're even more behind than when we started. While we're in this rat race, called "life", we hope all good things happen, so that we not delayed with our step - by - step hectic life.
The question we need to ask ourselves is...Are we losing site of the big picture? The humanitarian meaning of life? Possibly...How on earth do people find time to volunteer ? I have and I have had to put off other tasks. This time of year there are endless organizations that need people to volunteer. I imagine a lot more people volunteering if they could take time off at one of their two jobs. It is not healthy, smart, or even beneficial to keep adding things on our "to-do" list. Yet, each and every person that lives on long island is a part of it.
The holidays are the only time we stop to "smell the coffee". It's about time we start making time for ourselves and for those around us. My recommendation ? Move to the country. Or, limit your daily activies to NONE :) Neither decision is easy, but there needs to be a better way to achieving relaxation in life. People are attending colleges for more years than ever before. They are working more hours than ever before, and receiving less money. Wheres the logic....In this Rat Race? I'll leave that up to you!

* Holiday Movies * that bring back memories
There are many movies that "ring a bell" . These are just a "drop in the bucket" from all the films that exist. I'd like to share my favorite holiday movies of my childhood and adolescent years. "A picture paints a thousand words" so i have chosen to put up pictures about my favorite movies :)I choose "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" first. Understanding what this movie is about is a "piece of cake". Especially as a child, it reminded you that Santa was coming soon and the elves were busy making toys. This one was a "doozy" Another childhood favorite was Gremlins. These little creatures could "take an eye out" they had some claws !!"Great minds think alike" if you also like this movie. How about that scene where the old woman zooms down the stairway on that electric chair! hahh Now THAT was the "icing on the cake!"
Next up, an memorable classic, National Lampoon Christmas Vacation. Who can forget the scene where Clark Griswold doesnt get his annual bonus? It was hard for him to "keep his chin up" after that. "You can't judge a book by its cover", Babes in Toyland was a classis comedy when I was growing up. My father always put it on.
Charlie Browns Christmas can go unmentioned. This movie made anyone that didn't like their christmas tree a little more optimistic. Anything was better than Chuck's tree :0). Some other movie classics that were not mentioned were: Christmas story, It's a Wonderful Life, Scrooged, Nightmare Before Christmas, and Frosty the Snowman. :0)
